The Taken
I took a step into the future
I saw a still small pond
I reached to touch it with my hand
To see if I belonged
To what it held deep inside
It’s hopeful, endless sea
I felt its coolness and it’s heart
And something was revealed to me
A smooth hard bone floated up
And took me by the hand
It led me into a world of dreams
I tried to understand
Just then a wild wind
Came from the north
And tried to break the bond we made
Using all it’s force
But oh how I held onto what strength
I had just been given
It showed me how I had lived
And how I should be living
You may wonder what this means
And now I must confess
It came to me in a dream
Represented as a test
Would I stay on the shore
Like many years gone by
Or would I heed my souls request
And dive deep inside
For this pond represents to me
Our creation when we met
In an instant, a lifetime ago
I was caught within your net
Your swift strong hand pulled me in
My futures at your mercy
The eternal promises we have made
Will keep us safe upon this journey
For I looked deep inside
the universe’s plan
I saw a glimpse of our days
And now I understand
What I feel that I see
Is myself as truly whole
Because I’ve found in you my love
The other half of my soul
